Grup d’Anàlisi Barcelona: Group and personal trajectories

The trajectory of the group

Origins of Grup d’Anàlisi Barcelona…  a brief reflection by Pere Mir

This text relates a series of events that facilitated the creation of the Cooperative Society of Grup d’Análisi Barcelona in January 1989. The founding members were: Juan Campos Avillar, Hanne Campos, Susana Jover Fulgueira —who we lost through a premature death, Pere Mir Rodés and José María Ayerra Balduz. Shortly afterwards, Isabel Admetlla Admetlla and Mercè Martínez Torres joined the foundational group. José María Ayerra always maintained a purely testimonial position throughout the years of existence of the cooperative. Evidently, this is a subjective appreciation —it could not be otherwise, and for this reason biased— of the years 1987 and 1988, when a series of circumstances coincided which, to my mind, had as a result the foundation of the aforementioned Cooperative Services Society “addressed to scientific professionals in the fields of Psychoanalysis, Group Analysis, of Analytic Social Psychology and the rest of related Human Sciences, as described in the prologue of the leaflet  of presentation… (Conceptual Framework, Organization, Objectives and Activities, 1989)

Juan Campos Avillar, “the network knitter”

In 2008 the members of GdAB decide that each one elaborate his/her pathway in group analysis throughout the years.

Iñaki Markez of the Spanish journal Norte de Salud Mental interviews Juan Campos as the exponent of “The histories of groupanalysis”.

This is a dialogue between a Spaniard and an Englishman, two frontline groupanalysts belonging to a “second generation” of their kind, having trained in different ways with S. H. Foulkes and found nourishment in many and diverse authors and sources of their field. It was prepared by members of GdAB throughout more than a year virtually and during two personal encounters as a Plenary Session of the conjoint Mediterranean Conference of  the IAGP and the SEPTG. A CD was prepared for the occasion, available at the Conference bookstore.

Susana Jover Fulgueira, the legacy of a manuscript

Susana Jover was a friend and colleague of all those who were founding Grup d’Análisi Barcelona. An untimely death tore her away from us and did not permit her to share the adventure of this Blog. Even so, she has her place here. We have in our archives the handwritten presentation of Grup d’Anàlisi Barcelona which this friend of a lifetime, Susana Jover, wrote in 1990, the moment this cooperative association of services addressed to scientific professionals of the fields of Psychoanalysis, Group Analysis, Analytic Social Psychology and other related Human Sciences, was made public. We include this historic testimony in memory of Susana and her untiring collaboration, as it expresses many of the ideas which have accompanied us along the way.

At that time Susana wrote
